Introduction to Cultural Angle

“Culture may even be described simply as that which makes life worth living.” (T. S. Eliot)

Culture is extremely important for the human condition: it helps us define who we are, it is within each one of us. Everything we do or create is an intrinsic part of our cultural beings. Culture makes us feel like we belong to something greater than ourselves.

However, it also creates conflict, once the differences among cultures - like the differences in beliefs and values - may create a cultural clash. Therefore, it becomes even more important to make an analysis of the cultural phenomena, so these conflicts may be avoided. The acceptance of difference is only possible through the understanding of what makes “the other” different.

Cultural Angle’s main purpose is to analyze several culture-related topics and phenomena. I will write about art, culture, literature, cinema, design, philosophy, history, among other subjects which I may find relevant.

I hope that my essays may somehow help you on your journey to understanding the human condition.

I am currently writing my first essay for this page which will look at T. S. Eliot’s Notes Towards The Definition of Culture, more specifically at Chapter I: The Three "Senses" Of Culture. I believe that the best way to start a page about culture is to make a reflection on the term itself and that is what I am going to do by looking at T. S. Eliot's essay.

If you have any questions about anything I write on here, do not hesitate to ask. I will try my best to answer.

Thank you for visiting my page and good reads!
